I read the book a while ago. It tells us the very sordid details of Augusten Burroughs' childhood (that's him on the right). The details are so juicy that I wondered whether Augusten pulled a James Frey on us (remember? the guy who made stuff up in his memoir A Million Little Pieces and was later fried in The Oprah
Show?). Even if Augusten did make stuff up, I wouldn't care, actually, I liked the book. Anyway, this is one of those books you know will become a movie.
And the cast is great. We have Annette Bening, Gwyneth Paltrow, Evan Rachel Wood, Alec Baldwin, and Joseph Fiennes (who will play, uh, a gay character). Joseph Cross will play Augusten (one-sheet on the right, via Towle).
The teaser below aired before the season finale for Nip/Tuck and is not good at all (the recent trailer isn't much better either). Hopefully the actual movie will be as good as the book:
Augusten is an out gay man just in case you didn't know. So, there should be plenty of gay content in the movie.
