Snakes on a Plane is every bit as retarded as you think it would be. And you'll like it. It's a solid B-movie if there ever was one.
In Snakes on a Plane, Nathan Phillips is vacationing in Hawaii; he witnesses the execution of an L.A. prosecutor, and next thing you know FBI agent Sam Jackson is trying to take the hottie to L.A. to testify. The mob people that will be incriminated by Nathan's testimony put tons of snakes in his plane. It's that simple.
Our gay content is brought to us by Bruce James:
My discussion of his gaiety will ruin a bit of the plot, so read on, or go watch this delicious piece of crap.
[SPOILER AHEAD]
So, our gay turns out to be straight in the end! We realize that only after we had gotten quite a few stereotypical indications that Bruce James' flight attendant character was gay.
When the people are boarding, Bruce demonstrates interest in this hot kick-boxer, and he mentions he goes to a kick-boxing class with his 'girlfriend;' the fighter does not believe it's really a girl-friend. I actually thought Bruce was talking about a girl who is his friend, not a romantic girlfriend...
Then later, trying to save one of the male passengers who was bitten in the butt by a snake, Bruce offers, eagerly, to suck the poison out of the passenger's butt. The male passenger refuses the help, by the way.
Anyhow, in the end scene, we see Bruce hugging and kissing his girlfriend. He was straight it turns out. I thought it was actually cute to see that the flight attendant was not gay. It would have been nicer if he were gay, of course, but I still think it was nice to see the stereotype pushed aside. An effeminate guy can be straight after all (well, I have been trying to convince myself of that for years now).
Pushing the stereotype aside was nice enough to counter the few subtle slaps on our gay -- like when the male passenger refused Bruce's help a tad too strongly. I guess the logic was that a straight guy would prefer to die over having a guy so close to his butt...
As I said: I will not see this!
I hate snakes!!!!
EEEEEEEEEEWWWWW

A rather good film for Marcus to watch quite attentively, I believe...
No harm meant, of course... :-)
