Good to see Renault on the list. But I would have loved to have seen Narrow Rooms or In a Shallow Grave by James Purdy.

"Fadeout" is a great book. The main character isn't actually a detective but an insurance investigator which I felt added a nice difference to the whole story. I would add "The Sea of Light" by Jenifer Levin and "Kiss of the Spider Woman" by Manuel Puig to the list.

Thank you, Augusto, for the list. I may follow your suggestion!
Have a great 2007! :-)

Yikes- Agree with the book review information yet I hate the new layout of OUT- Can they make it any harder to read? Can the copy and graphics be anymore disconnected? Don't fashion spreads feature clothes not torsos?

In the end, I think the new OUT is more like Maxim than CQ- I liked it better when it was more like Details &/or Vanity Fair. Sad to see it go trashy, younger and more downscale- but perhaps that is the market.
