Queer Beacon

Hey folks! Thank you for the comments!

I actually debated a bit whether I should give away DVDs I thought carried questionable gay content, but I decided to do so in this case. Initially, I thought I would have you guys comment on Shipwreck movies, as a way to make sure you looked into a few of those, but then I decided to invite comments to any movie review, just to make it a little easier ;-)

Now, on my rating system, I know this may be a little confusing at first, but I do have two parallel rating systems.

On one hand, I provide Shipwreck/LightShed scores which indicate only whether the movie's gay content was negative or positive. On the other hand, I provide a separate rating for the quality of the movie (independently from the gay content), and that goes from bad to excellent.

So, a movie can be bad but have a good light for the gays. Conversely, a movie can be good and have a bad/questionable light for the gays (that was the case for Smokin' Aces).

Smokin' Aces was a good movie, even though the gay content was questionable. So, this giveaway is, in a way, an exception. I will continue to come up with giveaways for movies that are good or excellent and have positive gay content. But those are not always easy to come by...

I don't think you guys will ever see a giveaway for a bad movie with a shipwreck content. That, I don't think I'll do.

Sorry for the long comment, but I have been thinking about reminding my beloved readers about the intricacies of my rating system more often, and this was a good opportunity to do so, I think.

Oh, and yes, I would appreciate if the comments for this giveaway would be placed on actual movie posts (Scot, your comment to Casino Royale almost made me cry - -it's beautiful, thank you!)

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Michael

All that testosterone! Loved the Matthew Fox cameo!!!

Stephen

Yeah I also saw that you gave this movie a shipwreck review. Did you think it was a good movie though?

Also, does this post count as a movie review or must it actually be on a movie review blogpost?

Scott

I just left a comment about Casino Royale. Does that count?

Aaron

Whoops. Sorry 'bout the double post.

Aaron

Loved the film. I must admit I'm suprised that you are giving away a film you gave a ship-wreck score to, though.
