I really wanted to like this movie, the real-life story on which it is based is touching and deserving of a great portrayal, but somehow the movie fails to deliver, and I don't know exactly what was off. Angelina was fine (not excellent, but fine), and the supporting actors did their job too, so I can't really put my finger on the problems of this mediocre movie.
A Mighty Heart tells us the real-life story of Daniel Pearl (played by Dan Futterman), a journalist kidnapped in Pakistan and his wife's quest to try to get her hubby back; the wife, Mariane Pearl, is played Angelina.
There is no gay content in the movie, except that this FBI agent played by Jilian Armenante gave me major lesbo vibes (like, major), but we don't get any indication that she is indeed a lesbian in the movie.
Catty. I love it. Do come back Ashley!!

Every comment on here is ludicrous. The movie would have been better with uglier people? There was no gay content? Knowing the end RUINED the movie for you? This was not merely a movie honey. This was about someone's life and death. A tragic death at the hands of maniacs who hate the western world. This is reality and if reality is too "disappointing" for you then by all means, make sure you stick to Legally Blonde 2 or Charlie's Angels, etc. next time you shallow bastards.

Hey Brandon, I think Jilian's performance, as a whole, was a little stereotypically butch. I'm not saying I didn't like it, quite the opposite, her small cameo was well done.

What about Jilian Armenante's performance gave you a lesbian vibe?
I don't disagree the whole thing was disappointing, but I didn't catch the vibe you did.

Initially, I thought that the fact I knew what was going to happen at the end killed the movie for me, but there are so many movies to which I know the end and still I think are excellent (United 93, for instance; or The Queen)...so, for now, I think I'll go with your pretty people hypothesis ;-)
Oh, and my popcorn was pretty good too.

Don't know what was "off", let me help. Pretty People. I know this is going to sound harsh but, well, Angelina, even with icky-looking make up is still too pretty to play a real person, and Mariane Pearl isn't. Plus, even though Daniel Pearl wasn't a bad looking guy, Dan Futterman is in a totally different league (I still think he looks like he should be Ben Gazzara's son). I think this movie would have been alot better with uglier actors. Also, its like watching The Doors, Brian's Song or even Ol'Yeller - you know its going to end badly. Other than that, my popcorn was good, how was yours?
