Folks, I just realized one of the best scenes of all times is available for you to watch on a loop:

The above scene is from Notes on a Scandal, just out on DVD.  In the scene, Cate sets a new standard for going postal: she surrenders to the media (which had been thirsty for pictures of the teacher who seduced a young student). 

You may remember I struggled to give the movie a Shipwreck rating for it's shady light on the gays, but don't let that keep you away from this flick.  Movies like Notes on a Scandal are the reason why I go to the theater.  'Notes' really is one of the best films reviewed on my blog -- You can't miss it.

Hard Candy (2006) - No Gay Content

Hard Candy sounded pretty interesting, but it's just mediocre.  In the movie, Patrick Wilson plays a pedophile who is in for a big surprise from one of his victims.  The victim is played by Ellen Page.

I didn't like the acting in the movie, and Wilson can be good, he rocked as a trophy husband in Little Children.  I'm blaming director David Slade. 

We had no gay content, except for a brief mention of Jodie Foster by Ellen Page, but I won't count it as lesbian content just yet, I'll wait for JoFo to come out of the closet.

I was glad the pedophile did not prey on boys (Ellen Page did look pretty androgynous though). 

After all the Foley crap, we need all the distance we can get from pedophilia.  Homosexuality has nothing to do with that perversion and people need to see that.

The trailer is better than the actual movie, but be warned that it reveals too much:

The Devil Wears Prada - Win a DVD from the Beacon

The DVD for The Devil Wears Prada will be released on December 12 and I got two screeners to give away.

Brokeback - Download-to-own or DVD?

I'll keep using Heath's running picture until the news about Brokeback stop.

The latest news: the DVD release tomorrow will face competition from Movielink's download-to-own.  This is huge.  Movielink is owned by the big guys (MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros).
