Michael Clayton (2007) - No Gay Content

People are thinking way too much of this flick.  In Michael Clayton George Clooney plays Clayton, a lawyer who solves personal problems of the other lawyers and big clients of this fancy NY firm.  I heard somewhere that he plays a broken man fixing the problems of other broken men, and that's a good description -- the movie focuses on Michael's efforts to deal with a partner (Tom Wilkinson) who goes postal in the midst of a ginormous mass tort lawsuit.  The acting is okay, I couldn't see all the Oscar potential people are talking about.  The movie is very good, you should see it, just don't expect that much.

Ocean's Thirteen - Trailer

Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Caan, Affleck, Cheadle, Garcia, and, unfortunately, Pacino:

Don't you just love George Clooney rolling eyes towards the end of the trailer?  George goes: "Are you ready?" Andy Garcia goes: "I was born ready..." and leaves the scene.  George rolls eyes.  Classic.

GaySay: "...and then walk on the beach holding hands with Leonardo DiCaprio" - George Clooney Goes Gay Edition

George Clooney is on the cover of Vanity Fair's November issue.  The magazine is crazy about him, the article basically says he is the perfect man.  It's hard to disagree.

I am not even going to discuss his beard for the cover, Australian Gemma Ward. 

Clooney's next movie, The Good German, opens on November 22 (that's the main reason the magazine has Clooney on the cover).

Our GaySay comes in the context of Clooney's beef with Gawker.  The other day, Clooney made public his ideas on how to undermine paparazzi harassment.  He acknowledges it would be silly to try to promote boycotts or anything of the sort.  He thinks the best approach is to make the paparazzi's heads spin.

"I want to spend every single night for three months going out with a different famous actress.  You know, Hale Berry one night, Salma Hayek the next, and then walk on the beach holding hands with Leonardo DiCaprio.  People would still buy the magazines, they'd still buy the pictures, but they would always go, 'I don't know if these guys were putting us on or not."

Go George!

Syriana (2005) - No Gay Content

Nada.  The movie is very good though.  You must see it.  Here, George Clooney (a little chubby George Clooney) is a CIA agent caught up in an oil related international drama.  Spies, thiefs, politicians, the works.  Go see it.

Good Night, and Good Luck (2005) - LightShed 7

The movie tells us the story of David Strathairn’s character bringing Senator McCarthy to justice in connection with the communist “threat” and finger pointing. The movie is pretty good, and Strathairn’s performance is excellent.

The whole movie provides a welcomed criticism to our current day politics of scare and reap votes, and it was quite nice to see an interview Strathairn’s character had with Liberace. In the interview Liberace is asked about a girlfriend and he lies, he says he is waiting for the perfect girl, bla bla. Within the criticism of the movie you can actually make a parallel with today’s politics and the use of gays to gain votes in a nasty way. Well done George Clooney (although I would of course have preferred something more explicit in defense of the gays).
